About Hunterdon United

United Basketball is a comprehensive, year-round basketball organization offering different developmental programs to youth in Hunterdon County and the surrounding areas. The United Basketball organization boasts a highly qualified staff including area high school coaches, prior college and professional players, and prior college coaches.  The main purpose of the organization is to focus on both individual player and team development using a multi-step approach.


United Basketball, Inc is a non profit organization founded in 2005 by James Tagliareni of Annandale. Currently there are two different sectors of the company:

A. Hunterdon United AAU - AAU basketball
B. Hunterdon Hoops - Clinics, tournaments, camps, and private training

History

In 1993, Dr Edward Johnson founded Hunterdon Hoosiers AAU, a program exclusively for girls in Hunterdon County and the surrounding areas. By the year 2000, the Hunterdon Hoosiers had won 5 state championships and represented New Jersey at the National Tournament in both Cocoa Beach, Florida and Amarillo, Texas, placing 17th in the nation in 1995.

In 2006, current Hoosier president John Clark worked with Katie Terhune and Megan Haughey, Executive Directors of Hunterdon United, LLC to unite the two programs in the county. In the spring of 2007, the programs joined and expanded to add a boy’s side to the AAU program. As of late 2007, Hunterdon United and Hunterdon Hoops officially merged both sectors of the company to create ‘United Basketball.’

Goals/Missions

The primary goal of United Basketball, Inc is to increase the level of performance of both individual players and teams in Hunterdon County, through a multi-step approach. Players have the opportunity to learn through a variety of teaching methods including private training, group session, AAU, and skill clinics.
