CODE OF CONDUCT AGREEMENT

In an effort to guarantee an enjoyable and safe experience, conducive to learning, Athletes in the Hunterdon Hoosiers, Inc. d/b/a United Basketball and Hunterdon Hoops (collectively HH) Activities are asked to follow the code of conduct listed below. Proper conduct is expected each time an Athlete is participating in basketball team sports, including but not limited to practices, skills sessions, clinics, summer camps, private training programs and games, and activities related thereto, from arrival until departure (the “Activities”). It is important that the Parent / Guardian and the Athlete review and understand this code to ensure the safety and satisfaction of all participants.

The Athlete Code
We would like to remind you that participating in our Activities is a privilege, and with this privilege, comes tremendous responsibility. Your conduct will impact the perception people have about the HH Program, your fellow Athletes and you as a person. It is important that you use good judgment and display mature behavior at all times. Athletes who decide to participate shall be expected to exemplify the highest standards of sportsmanship, behavior and fair play. Athletes that are unable to abide by these expectations will not be allowed to join any Activities.

General Code of Ethics

  • Show respect for instructors, opponents, officials and spectators.
  • Play hard and fair at all times.
  • Conduct with the highest degree of character on and off the court.
  • Complete observance of all training rules and policies set forth by the staff.
  • Give opponents and teammates credit for their ability, performance and the respect you would hope to receive in return.
  • Be modest and considerate in victory; be gracious in defeat.
  • Realize that team success comes before individual recognition.
  • Be the first person to address a staff member with any concerns.
  • Understand that playing time will not be equal for all Athletes. HH is a highly competitive program that considers the following factors in regard to playing time: Talent, Commitment, Work Ethic and Attendance.

General Rules of Activity

  • GAME ATTENDANCE: Athletes, who are absent from a game for reasons other than illness or family emergency, will have their eligibility left to the discretion of the staff. All Athletes are expected to communicate scheduling conflicts with the coaching staff prior to the beginning of the season.
  • PRACTICE ATTENDANCE: Practice is mandatory unless personally excused by the staff. All Athletes are expected to communicate scheduling conflicts with the staff prior to the beginning of the season.
  • IMPROPER CONDUCT: Athletes will not display behavior on or off the basketball court that in the opinion of the staff is considered insubordinate or inappropriate to standards of conduct, attitude or sportsmanship.
  • TOBACCO, ALCOHOL, DRUGS: Athletes will refrain from the use or possession of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs including steroids.

Sanctions

  • The staff will handle disciplinary action. The range of action will vary from verbal warnings to suspension or dismissal from the team.
  • In the event there is behavior warranting discipline, the following process will be applied:
    • The staff will issue a verbal warning and will inform the Parent / Guardian of the problem, either in-person, over the phone or through email.
    • If the problem occurs again, the staff will suspend an Athlete for a reasonable length of time.  
    • If the problem occurs after suspension, the staff reserves the right to dismiss an Athlete from the team or program. No refunds will be processed in the event of a dismissal.

The Parent / Guardian Code

  • The Parent / Guardian is to refrain from coaching on the sideline. The HH development structure focuses on the player receiving feedback from only the coaching staff during practices and games.
  • The Parent / Guardian is to be respectful of the other parents / guardians, staff members, officials, Athlete opponents and their respective Parents / Guardians.
  • The Parent / Guardian should handle concerns as follows:
  • If a concern arises, The Parent /Guardian is asked to schedule a meeting with the staff.
  • Scheduled meetings will have a third (neutral) party in attendance.
  • The Parent /Guardian is not to approach a staff member before or after a game with any concerns.
  • The Parent /Guardian should remember that HH looks to create a positive learning situation for all players. Abiding by these codes will ensure such an environment.

ENROLLMENT AGREEMENT

The Parent / Guardian consents to the full participation of the above identified Athlete in the activities, as herein defined, of HH and agrees to pay the non-refundable Program Fee upon enrollment of the Athlete. The Parent /Guardian understands and agrees as follows:

  • The Parent / Guardian understands that the Activities are non-refundable.
  • The Parent / Guardian understands and agrees to pay the full Activities amount.
  • The Parent / Guardian understands that risks and dangers exist in the Athlete’s participation in Activities, including potential personal injury, contraction of illness / sickness / disease, and 
damage to property, including but not limited to bodily injury, disease strains, fractures, ailments that could cause serious disability, or loss of life.
  • The Parent / Guardian understands that in consideration of the Athlete being permitted to participate in Activities, the Parent / Guardian hereby agrees to release, waive, discharge, and covenant not to sue HH, its owners, employees, officers, or agents from all liability from any and all loss or damage Parent / Guardian and/or Athlete may have on account of injury to the Athlete’s person or property, and/or to the person and property of others or to Parent / Guardian, including loss of life, arising out of or related to the activities offered by HH, its owners, employees, officers, or agents or otherwise.
  • The Parent / Guardian understands that in consideration of the Athlete being permitted to participate in Activities, the Parent / Guardian hereby agrees to indemnify and save and hold harmless HH, its owners, employees, officers, or agents from any loss, liability, damage, or cost they may incur arising out of claims generated while the Athlete participated in activities.
  • The Parent / Guardian understands that in consideration of Athlete being permitted to participate in Activities, the Parent / Guardian / Athlete hereby assumes full responsibility for any risk of bodily injury, loss of life, or property damage arising out of or related to the activities, whether caused by the negligence of HH, its owners, employees, officers, agents, or otherwise.
  • The Parent / Guardian understands that in consideration of Athlete being permitted to participate Activities, the Parent / Guardian hereby agrees that this Agreement extends to all acts of negligence by HH, its owners, employees, officers, agents, or otherwise including negligent rescue operations, and is intended to be as broad and inclusive as is permitted by New Jersey law and that if any portion is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall continue in full legal force and effect.
  • United AAU Players Only
    • The Parent / Guardian understands that he/she must complete the mandatory AAU Insurance program prior to the start of any Activity. Failure to complete the mandatory AAU Insurance program will result in the Parent / Guardian being responsible for providing personal insurance coverage for the Player.
    • The Parent / Guardian understands the Equipment Policy stating that the issued basketball is for HH Activities and cannot be used outdoors. If the basketball is lost, the Parent / Guardian must purchase the same basketball to use. If an Athlete decides not to return to HH Activities, that Athlete must return the basketball within two weeks of being contacted to do so. If the basketball is lost or not returned within the two-week timeframe, the Parent / Guardian’s credit card will be automatically charged the listed fee.
    • The Parent / Guardian understands that no refund will be granted if a player willingly leaves a team.
    • The Parent / Guardian has read, understood and fully acknowledges the Rules and Regulations included in the Information Web Page as supplied by HH.
    • The Parent / Guardian understands that any scholarship money granted to the Athlete requires volunteer credits to be satisfied. Failure to do so will result in the voiding of the scholarship. This only applies to scholarship recipients.
    • The Parent / Guardian grants permission for any/all media to be captured and utilized in publications, presentations, websites, social media and any other program materials. No royalty, fee, credit, or other compensation shall become payable by reason of such use.

CONTACT METHODS

Hunterdon Hoosiers, Inc. uses both email and text messages (via Call Loop) to contact families as well as remind families of important program changes. By signing this agreement, you are agreeing to receive both emails and text messages.

ELECTRONIC CONSENT

I have read the above Code of Conduct Agreement and have discussed it with the Athlete. I understand that the Athlete will be sanctioned, and possibility dismissed from the Activities if he/she is not able to comply with The Athlete Code. I have read and agree to abide by The Parent / Guardian Code. I have read and agree to abide by The Enrollment Agreement guidelines. I agree that my signature whether electronic or by hand is done with the full understanding of this document.
