Three Players Verbally Commit to D1 Scholarship Offers

Jones, Smith, Benz

After the first NCAA Live Recruiting weekend in April, three United NJ AAU players made their verbal commitments to attend Division 1 schools on full athletic scholarships. All three players are members of the 2016 class and will finish their senior basketball seasons next year at their respective high schools.

Erin Jones (Voorhees High School, NJ) is a 6'2" guard who will attend the University of Hartford to play for Jenn Rizzotti. Erin has been a member of United NJ AAU program her entire life. She has also been a standout player at Voorhees High School since her freshman year. She currently has 938 career points and is expected to break the 1,000 point benchmark early in her senior season. In 2015, Jones was named the Hunterdon County Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Jones is a knock down shooter with the ability to make long-range, contested three point shots.

Cameryn Benz (Montgomery High School, NJ) is a 6'3" forward who will attend Lehigh University to play for Sue Troyan. Cameryn surpassed the 1,000-point mark as a Junior, and currently has 1,038 career points. In 2015, Benz was the Princeton Packet Player of the Year. Benz has the ability to utilize her size and length to get to the rim, scoring from a variety of spots on the floor.

Madalyn Smith (High Point Regional High School, NJ) is a 5'8" guard who will attend the College of Holy Cross to play for Bill Gibbons. Smith is a true point guard with the ability to create off the dribble. She led her High Point team to a 22-5 junior season, connecting on over 56 three pointers in her sophomore year. Smith will be a Patriot League rival with Benz at Lehigh.

All three players have played United NJ AAU for the past two plus seasons. All three have been coached by the High School Director, Jimmy Ostaszewski. Coach Jimmy O has been an integral part in their development and has been a valuable assert in their college placement.
